Marek Narkiewicz - Current research
Devonian sedimentary basins of southern and central Poland
- Synthetic study of the £ysogóry-Radom and Lublin basins, including lithostratigraphic framework, conodont biostratigraphy and palynostratigraphy, depositional architecture, palaeogeography and palaeotectonics (with participation of K.Narkiewicz, E. Turnau and P.Bultynck).
- Collaborative study with K.Narkiewicz on the Middle-Upper Givetian conodont biofacies of the £ysogóry-Radom and Lublin basins - biofacies record of global transgressive events.
- Stratigraphy, depositional environments and early diagenesis of the dolomitic Wojciechowice Formation (Eifelian) in the Holy Cross Mts. Conditions of formation and preservation of the earliest tetrapod footprints (with collaboration of K.Narkiewicz, J.Grabowski, G.Nied¼wiedzki and P.Szrek - cf. Nature, 463: 43-48).
Variscan and Carpathian forelands in southern Poland
Geological interpretation of the deep reflection seismic profile POLCRUST-01 in SE Poland. Geology of an uppermost sedimentary layer confronted with a deeper crustal structure between the Outer Carpathians and Lublin Basin (collaboration with the team led by A.Guterch).
History of geology: Murchison in the Holy Cross Mts.
- Co-authorship of the volume (edited by P. Krzywiec) "Murchison's Wanderings in Poland" devoted to the visit of Murchison in June of 1843, and its scientific results. The study is based mainly on unpublished diaries and field notes of the British geologist stored in the Geological Society archives in London.
